Questions
FAQ
Everything you need to know about working with Bride's Day Films.
Quality & Style
Will our film look as good as the Bride's Day showreel?
We approach every wedding with the intention of creating a memory that will touch the hearts of everyone involved. It's most important to us that your video hits a nerve — so good that you'll want to play it again and again. Every wedding is different, but the craft and care we put into every film is exactly the same.
On the Day
How much footage do you record on the day?
It depends on the length of your ceremony and speeches, but for a 7-hour call we typically record around 2–3 hours of unedited footage. Everything we capture goes into the edit process — we're not leaving good material on the table.
How do you work with our photographer?
We let the photographer lead. A good photographer creates a relaxed but dynamic atmosphere, and we prefer to be non-intrusive and more in the background. The last thing you want is a video operator demanding take after take — that is simply not our style. We may occasionally ask you to repeat a certain pose or have an extra kiss, but it's kept to a minimum.
Do we need to provide a meal for the videographer?
Yes please. Our camera operator will work very hard for you — often 10–12 hours on their feet. Please let your reception venue know this is a requirement. Most venues accommodate this without issue.
Delivery
How long does editing take?
Please allow around 30 days for editing. Editing is a craft for us — whilst we like a quick turnaround, it's most important not to rush and skip over fine detail. You'll receive your film and all raw footage via a private digital download link.
What happens to the footage not in the edited film?
You receive all the footage captured on the day plus your edited highlights film. Everything is available 4–5 weeks after your wedding day via private digital download.
Equipment
What cameras do you use?
We use Full HD Sony FX6 cinema cameras. These cameras perform exceptionally well in low light, which allows us to keep the use of artificial lights to a minimum — meaning we can stay in the background and capture the day as it actually looks.
Do you offer multiple camera coverage?
Yes. Adding a second camera allows us to capture more fine detail and creates significantly better viewing of your wedding — especially during the ceremony and speeches. If you are having a large wedding with lots of activity, multi-camera coverage is the ultimate way to relive your day. It's included in our Highlights + Ceremony and Full Day Film packages.
What about audio quality?
Audio quality can make or break a good video. We use the best industry-standard radio and directional microphones to ensure that the sound we capture is of high quality. In editing, we tastefully mix between your favourite soundtracks and the natural ambiance recorded on the day.
Booking
When should I book?
We recommend booking 6–12 months ahead, especially for peak season (November to March in Tasmania). Popular dates book fast. A 30% deposit secures your date, with the balance due 14 days before your wedding.
Do you travel outside Hobart?
Absolutely. We film across all of Tasmania — from Bruny Island to Cradle Mountain, the Huon Valley to Freycinet. Travel within Tasmania is included in all packages.
